CAF to supply trains for Mexico and Brussels metro networks




Sistema de Transporte Colectivo, the transportation organization of the Federal District Government, has awarded CAF México a contract for the supply of 10 pneumatic tyred-trains for Line 1 of Mexico City Metro. Likewise, Société des Transports Intercommunaux de Bruxelles (MIVB/STIB) has awarded CAF a framework contract for a term of 12 years that includes the supply of 43 units for the Brussels Metro.


CAF to supply trains for Mexico and Brussels metro networks

The contract in Mexico, which stands at €164 million, is part of the vehicle and infrastructure refurbishment program implemented by the Mexican Metro, with the first units being planned for delivery in the first half of 2018.

Brussels

The contract awarded by Société des Transports Intercommunaux de Bruxelles, the public transport operator for the European capital, totals an amount of €353 million and includes the option to order up to 47 additional trains.

The contract involves cutting-edge trains equipped with state-of-the-art technology for this type of vehicles, which will migrate in the course of the project from operation with the current signalling system to operation with CBTC signalling system.
