The contract, awarded to Talgo USA for the amount of 72.9 million dollars (about 65 million euros), allows Talgo to access a new market segment as part of its current diversification strategy.

The work will be delivered over a period of 56 months and involves the comprehensive overhaul of Los Angeles Metro’s vehicles in two phases: a base order of 38 vehicles and an option to add 36 more.

The A650 trains, manufactured by the Italian company Breda, entered service at the end of the nineties and will be now undergoing some remodelling work including the replacement of mechanical components and the supply of new electronic systems.
