With the establishment of the Programa de Investimento em Logística (PIL) Brazil is supporting the development of large projects, mainly via concessions, with an estimate of investments of 55,000 million euros. The program involves the construction of 7,500 kilometres of railway lines as well as several projects for the improvement of urban transport and the modernisation of the airport network, among others.

The Brazilian government has recently presented an economic plan to launch 34 concessions and privatisations of public companies, including the concession of three railways.

International projects

In 2015 Spanish companies’ portfolio of international projects exceeded 74,000 million euros and 33% of the main transport concessions in the world are being managed by Spanish companies.

Up to November 2016, the awarding of international contracts in infrastructures in which Spanish companies participate already exceed 42,323 million euros, of which 26,357 million euros belong to conventional work contracts and 15,966 million euros to concessions. The awarding of contracts in Brazil is 3.43% of the total.
