The contract involves the installation of the first CBTC system in India and is the result of the collaboration between the Mobility divisions of Siemens Spain, India and Germany.

Siemens will develop and install its CBTC solution Trainguard MT for 38.2 kilometres of double track with 36 stations and two depots, as well as on-board equipment for 23 three-cars trains, Trackguard Westrace Mk II electronic interlockings and a Rail 9000 centralized traffic control centre.

The CBTC technology can enable headways of 90 seconds or less with precise train detection at all times, enabling the optimization of the metro system to the benefit of passengers and operator.
