The conference, which was organised by CDTI, Mafex, Plataforma Tecnológica Ferroviaria Española (Spanish Railway Technological Platform)-Fundación de los Ferrocarriles Españoles (Spanish Railways Foundation) and the Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) from the Australian Embassy in Madrid, allowed attendees to get to know the opportunities offered by Australia to those companies in the railway sector that wish to carry out R&D&I projects and implement their technology in Australia.
Australia is the world’s 13th largest economy, with 26 years of consecutive economic growth by an average of 3.3 percent each year. With a low-risk environment in which to do business, a growing population and a privileged location in the Pacific, Australia seems a great opportunity of growth and expansion for the companies.
The Australian government is making strong investments in transport infrastructure to ease traffic congestion in the cities, especially in mass transit systems such as metro and light rail, projects to which Spanish companies can contribute with their experience and technology.
