Acciona selected for rail line upgrade in Australia

(28/07/2017)

The project, which will commence in early 2018 and is scheduled for completion by late 2019, involves duplication of 18 kilometres of track between Deer Park West and Melton, construction of additional platforms at Bacchus Marsh and Ballan stations, upgrade and extension of the platforms at Rockbank station and the construction of a new pedestrian link and a new car park.

The work has a budget of 518 million Australian dollars (about 350 million euros) and it will improve the service, especially at peak hours. The state of Victoria is upgrading the Ballarat line to offer more trains and with greater frequency for the growing population of Melbourne’s outer west.

This is the first contract of Acciona in Australia following the acquisition of local engineering and construction group Geotech and the creation of Acciona Geotech Holding for Australia and New Zealand markets.
