CAF will build a new plant in the Celtic Business Park in the city of Newport, the third largest city in Wales after Cardiff and Swansea. The future plant will be situated on a plot of 46,000 m2 located in the Celtic Business Park area, west of the city of Newport, and will have a workforce of up to 300 employees.

The plant is expected to be operating by mid-2018.

There is the possibility of a future extension of the facilities, a factor that will depend on the volume of production contracts obtained in the United Kingdom.

The new CAF plant will perform vehicle assembly and finishing activities of all types of rail vehicles, as well as all the tests required before commissioning. It will also deal with maintenance and train servicing tasks. The industrial estate has its own railway terminal.

The investment will exceed 32 million pounds (about 38 million euros) and will include subsidies from the Foreign Investment Programme of the Welsh Government.
