New CAF contracts in Algiers and Stockholm

CAF has been awarded two new contracts of urban vehicles, one to provide units for the Algiers Metro and the extension of the contract for the supply of trams to Stockholm.

New CAF contracts in Algiers and Stockholm

According to the new contract, CAF will supply twelve 6-car units for the Algiers city metro system. These are trains based on the Inneo platform, designed and manufactured by CAF as a development of the vehicles recently supplied in Rome and Bucharest.

This contract is CAF's third rolling stock supply project in Algeria, after the above mentioned project for the Algiers Metro, and the one signed with the Algerian Railways (SNTF) in 2005 for the supply of 17 self-propelled diesel units for Regional passenger transport.

Storstockholms Lokaltrafik, the company responsible for the transport network in the city of Stockholm, has signed with CAF the extension of the tram supply project for the city. The contract involves the supply of eight new units which add to the 22 units already running in the Scandinavian capital, 15 of which came from the contract awarded in 2010 and the other 7 from a subsequent extension.

The trams are low floor bidirectional Urbos units with 3-car sets and a capacity of 221 passengers (70 seated and 2 PRM places).
