Wiener Linier is developing a modernisation plan for its metro network that currently comprises five lines covering a total of 80 kilometres and 105 stations. The main actions planned are the automation of Line 2 and the construction of the new Line 5, also fully automated.

The agreement, which is valid for three years and extendible, provides opportunities for cooperation and mutual learning that will benefit both operators. Barcelona Metro is coordinating UITP’s Automated Metros Observatory, responsible for disseminating and sharing knowledge about automated lines.
