The new signalling system includes a Trackguard Westrace Mk II electronic interlocking at University station that controls the 2.6 kilometres from this station to Vazha Pshavela station.

The project also includes installation of track circuits and LED signals, testing and commissioning, the interface of the new interlocking with centralized traffic control, the current relay interlocking located at Delisi and the existing signalling system based in speed codes, which was deployed in the 1960´s and very common in the former Soviet Union countries, and whose compatibility was necessary to guarantee.

The Municipal Development Fund of Georgia awarded the contract for the construction of the new University station to the consortium comprising Cobra Instalaciones y Servicios and Assignia Infraestructuras, which entrusted Siemens Spain with the supply and installation of the signalling technology.
