The jury highlighted that the system developed by Metrotenerife offers railway vehicles extra safety, since it provides constant information and enables automatic response in case of emergency due to excessive speed.

Simove makes it possible to constantly supervise the speed of the trams in order to facilitate an automatic response in the event of risk situations caused by excessive speed. Another characteristic of the system is its high adaptability to other modes of guided transport at a reasonable cost and providing fast integration for any operator.

At present all Tenerife’s trams are equipped with this safety system and, in addition, Metrotenerife is proceeding to implement it in the fleet of Madrid’s Metro Ligero Oeste.
