The Plan awarded the Annual Distinction of best metro and rail project of the Latin American Association of Metros and Underground Railways 2017 has also been a finalist in the Environment category.

This Plan has been considered by Alamys as “a modern and efficient measure to the direct benefit of users, as it contributes to the care of the environment in a city that needs to protect this aspect”.

Metro de Madrid’s Energy Efficiency Plan is structured in a number of measures designed to reduce energy expenditure in areas such as traction consumption and an increase in regeneration, the implementation of LED technology at stations and trains and the efficient and intelligent management of the ventilation in stations and tunnels.
