Adif has signed a new cooperation agreement with the Government of India whereby the Spanish company will advise the Asian country on the improvement of the suburban services in the Capital Region, Delhi. These services will be developed in an area of 35,000 square kilometres covering a population of 46 million.
The agreement lays the foundations for Adif’s contribution to the planning and development of the railway infrastructure in the Delhi region. Adif will mostly advise National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) on technical requirements for increasing speeds, frequencies and capacity of trains as well as on the improvement of the network’s reliability and intermodality, safety and information systems.
To achieve this, Adif will work on areas such as planning and urban development, infrastructure planning, functional designs, feasibility studies, the upgrading of technologies related to the infrastructure including track, tunnels, viaducts, electrification and gauge changers, among others, and the modernisation of traffic management.
