Bombardier has two centres of excellence in railway engineering located in Spain: one for the development of signalling systems in San Sebastián de los Reyes (Madrid) and another one for propulsion systems in Trápaga (Biscay). Bombardier Spain has more than 800 employees and its two centres have participated in projects all over the world.

The Trápaga centre has manufactured propulsion systems for the V300 Zefiro trains, for the Haramain High Speed Rail project and for the São Paulo Monorail in Brazil. The San Sebastián de los Reyes centre has been working on projects such as the installation of Bombardier’s Cityflo 650 CBTC system on lines 1 and 5 of Metro de Madrid and on line 5 of São Paulo Metro.
