First export train to China arrives from Zaragoza Maritime Terminal

The first train between Zaragoza Maritime Terminal (TMZ) and the Chinese region of Xinjiang, which has a border with Mongolia, has completed its journey in 24 days. Operated by DSV, the train transported goods belonging to the renewable energy sector in 15 containers.

The train crossed Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Afghanistan, and picked up cargo in Germany and Poland. The transit time was less than half of what it would have been to operate it by sea, estimated at 55 days.

The railway, which is a very competitive option for companies, is working on reducing delivery times so that it can place itself as an intermediate alternative, faster than the ship and cheaper than the plane.

From December 2017 TMZ has been offering a continental railway service to the Chinese logistics hub of Zhengzhou via DSV, and it is working on new options with the so-called Silk Road to both final destination in China and intermediate destinations in the north of Europe or eastern countries.
