Metrotenerife, awarded technical assistance for the start-up of Cuenca tram in Ecuador



The Mobility Secretariat of the Municipality of Cuenca in Ecuador has awarded Metrotenerife the contract for technical assistance during the pre-operative phase and commercial operation of the city’s Cuatro Ríos Tram for a period of three years and seven months.

This contract involves the analysis and development of a manual including the requirements and roles for hiring staff, preparation of the operation of the line and technical assistance in commercial operation.

Local authorities estimate that the tram will be running through the city’s historic centre by the first quarter of 2019. The 20.4 km route will comprise 27 stations, while the rolling stock fleet is made up of 14 Alstom’s Citadis 302 units.
