(16/10/2018)

The contract, worth 185 million euros, includes the design and building of the new Alexandria station, whose construction will begin in spring 2019 so that it becomes operational by early 2022.

The station, to be built on Metrorail's Yellow and Blue Lines between the existing Braddock Road and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport stations, will provide walkable access to regional transportation systems to the northeast area of the city.

The contract involves a new track as well as its associated train control and signalling systems, furniture, kiosks, pedestrian access and entry pavilions, bridges providing pedestrian and bicycle access over the CSX railroad corridor and site restoration and beautification.
