Indonesian company PT Inka has awarded CAF Power & Automation, CAF Group's subsidiary, the contract for the design, development and installation of the railway traction and control systems for 31 light rail vehicles (LRVs) that will serve the metropolitan area of Jakarta.

The contract, which amounts to 50 million euros, involves the design and manufacturing of the Cosmos control system and the complete traction chain, including Power DC 750V converters. The new vehicles will also incorporate axles, wheels and gear-units supplied by Miira, which is CAF Group's business unit specialized in mechanical components.
The equipment will be fitted on the 31 LRV units that PT Inka will operate in the new Jabodebek -Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Bekasi- line, in the metropolitan area of Jakarta. The units, designed for automatic driverless train operation, consist of six cars each and will provide suburban services at a maximum speed of 80 km/h.
