Renfe and Adif to be strategic partners for Dallas-Houston high-speed rail project

Renfe and Adif have been selected to provide technical advice and integrate the systems and technology for Texas Central high-speed rail line, which will link Houston and Dallas/Fort Worth and whose economic impact over the next 25 years is estimated at $36 billion (over €31 billion).

Renfe and Adif to be strategic partners for Dallas-Houston high-speed rail project

(31/10/2018)

In a first stage, Renfe and Adif will be technical advisers in the development, design and construction, collaborating with the building consortium led by Salini Impregilo (see piece of news) and with the technological partners of the project.

At a later stage, Texas Central anticipates that Renfe and Adif will assist in the further development of operation and maintenance plans as well as commissioning of the line. Renfe could also be awarded an operation and maintenance contract and become both the line’s operator and the company in charge of the maintenance of equipment and systems, in addition to overseeing ticketing platforms and procedures, passenger loyalty programs and other customer-facing services.

This awarding to Renfe and Adif, which already take part in the Mecca-Medina High Speed Railway in Saudi Arabia, is a boost to their international expansion: in the case of Renfe as an operator before the next liberalization of services, and in the case of Adif as a manager and consultant of high-speed infrastructure.

Renfe and Adif have been selected for their confirmed capacity to integrate different high-speed technologies and systems following a demanding process of over six months that involved the participation of five international consortiums, and in which a team of the Strategy and International areas from both Spanish companies prepared and defended their bid.
