The 41 km line, which will run between the stations of Monserrate and Chosica, will thus be able to keep providing freight services and offer a mass transportation service for passengers between two very populated districts of the Peruvian capital’s Department.

Metrotenerife is participating in this engineering project together with the also Spanish Trazas Ingeniería and the local company Green Life. The contract will be signed for an amount of about two million euros and an initial duration of six months, although consultancy services are estimated to be extended for a year.

The improvement project on the Lima-Chosica East Rail Corridor, Monserrate-Chosica Section, requires identifying the sections where turnouts must be implemented and doubling the track; building at-grade intersections and at different levels; devices to ensure safety and operating capacity; and proposing the necessary actions for mixed service.

The service will be introduced as a complement to the Basic Metro Network within the Integrated Transport System of Lima Metropolitana and El Callao, and will serve the districts of Cercado de Lima, El Agustino, Ate, Santa Anita, Chaclacayo and Chosica.
