The opening of direct international services between France and Spain took place on 15 December 2013, allowing Renfe-SNCF en Cooperación’s trains to join both countries in a high-speed connection via the Perthus Tunnel.

During these five years 20,000 trains have travelled between Spain and France, which means about 2,690 million kilometres covered.

The services of Renfe-SNCF en Cooperación connect Barcelona, Girona and Figueres with Paris, Lyon, Marseille, Perpignan, Narbonne, Montpellier, Nîmes, Avignon, Aix-en-Provence and Valence. And from Madrid, Zaragoza and Tarragona, passengers can travel to Marseille, Avignon and Aix-en-Provence.

Users

The majority of users of Renfe-SNCF en Cooperación’s international trains take leisure or holiday trips, either with their partner or with family. 26 percent of the passengers are Spanish, 32 percent are French and 42 percent come from other countries, which highlights the strong international character of the offer.

92 percent of the users claim to be satisfied or very satisfied with the services provided by Renfe-SNCF en Cooperación. As for sales channels, a third of the passengers of the Spanish market buy their tickets online.
