Azvi to build first section of slab track in Norway



Bane Nor, Norway’s railway infrastructure manager, has awarded Azvi the contract for the construction of the first section of slab track in the country between Arn and Fløen, as part of the Arna-Bergen project.

The contract, Azvi’s first in Norway, amounts to 508.43 million Norwegian kroner (about 53 million euros) and involves a section of nine kilometres in length. The contract includes track maintenance, telecommunications, high and low voltage and catenary.

Works will be carried out in two phases. Following the first phase, which will last for two years, works will be stopped for the construction of the new Arna station, the opening of the new Ulriken tunnel and the refurbishment of the original tunnel. After that, Azvi’s contract will be completed.
