The Acciona-Ghella consortium has used four tunnel boring machines, each one 150 metres long and weighing 2,400 tonnes, of which two completed their drilling work in Ski last week while the other two completed their work last September. All of them started out from a half-way point in the town of Asland, from where two of them drilled south towards Ski, and the other two drilled north towards Oslo.

Now AGJV (Acciona-Ghella Joint Venture) will carry out all the railway installation works, except for the signalling systems, whose planning phase has already begun. Concreting works, the preparation of the tunnel walls, catenary systems, walkways and technical rooms will all be carried out in the coming months. The telecommunications systems, installation of the tracks and the power supply and ventilation systems are also included in this project.

The Follo Line is part of the intercity development plan for south-east Oslo, which seeks to improve and develop the country’s transport infrastructures and is due to be completed by December 2021.
