The Majorcan Transport Consortium, a member of EMTA (European Metropolitan Transport Authorities), welcomed representatives of London, Paris, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Madrid and Valencia transport systems, among others, who addressed topics such as Mobility as a Service, innovative pricing and payment systems, decarbonisation of public transport, zero-emission vehicles, air quality and infrastructure financing.

In this meeting, the Government of the Balearic Islands presented the state of transport in the islands as part of its strategy of decarbonisation and increase of the public mobility offer. Last February the Parliament of the Balearic Islands passed the Climate Change and Energy Transition Law, which includes a ban on diesel cars in 2025. In addition, the Strategic Mobility Plan 2026 foresees an increase of 50 percent in the intercity bus transport as well as the extension of the rail infrastructure in the island.
