Renfe has created a subsidiary company, named Renfe of America, destined to centralize the activity of the company in the United States, one of the most relevant international railway markets.

The constitution of Renfe of America is part of Renfe's Strategic Plan for 2019-2023, which includes among its main points the internationalization of the company with the aim of gradually increasing its business volume outside of Spain, both in high-speed services and in urban and metropolitan services.
Renfe was selected in 2018 as the operating partner of the Texas Central project, which plans to link Houston and Dallas, to become the supplier in charge of advising and directing the design, planning and construction of the project. After the construction phase, the project can be extended to operation and long-term maintenance of the line.
