The supply of these units, which will be manufactured by Stadler Valencia, is part of a framework agreement for a total of 100 locomotives. This agreement, which does not specify a minimum order, means that ELP can request additional locomotives.

The Co'Co' locomotives for ELP have a power range between 2.8 MW in diesel operation and 6.15 MW, as well as an outstanding tractive effort thanks to their six powered axles. These locomotives are configured to German measures (15 kV + 25 kV AC and a 2.8 MW diesel engine), and feature ETCS and radio remote control.

A single hybrid locomotive will be able to replace two Bo’Bo’ locomotives to pull a train with the same weight, significantly reducing operation and track access costs and minimizing wear and tear of the infrastructure thanks to its innovative bogie technology.
