The aim of the award is to make engineering more enticing to women, rewarding those who create role models for young women considering a career in these sectors, while encouraging companies to employ and train more women in these industries.
Elena Moral, an expert in the high-speed segment of the rail sector, led between 2002 and 2005 the tests to obtain the certification and approval of Renfe’s Class 102 high-speed trains. Between 2005 and 2011 she was in charge of maintenance engineering for the S-102 and S-130 trains, and in 2011 she was responsible for the Talgo Avril project. In 2012 she started working in the Haramain project, leading it from 2015.
This year’s WICE Awards attracted 430 nominations from eight European countries (France, Germany, United Kingdom, Ireland, Spain, Italy, Poland and Turkey), for which 29 awards were given in the different existing categories.
