Stadler to supply seven hybrid locomotives in Turkey

(25/09/2019)

Körfez Ulaştırma will receive the first locomotive, the first hybrid one in Turkey, in 2021. The Turkish operator will use the locomotives combining both 25 kV AC electric and diesel operating modes on lines with high gradient, where a strong traction force is required. A single locomotive will haul up to 2000 tons fuel product trains, which will improve the efficiency of the rail operator.

The new Eurodual boasts a power range of 2.8 MW in diesel operation and 6.15 MW in electric operation, with a tractive effort of up to 500 kN thanks to its six powered axles and an innovative adhesion control system. Including this contract, the number of units sold from this new generation of Co’Co’ locomotives designed and manufactured by Stadler Valencia amounts to 74 units.

Körfez Ulaştırma

Körfez Ulaştırma, the first private railway operator in Turkey, is the logistics affiliate of Turkey’s largest oil refinery Tüpraş, and started operations in December 2017.
