European High-Level Passenger Meeting held at Catalonia Railway Museum

The meeting covered topics like the quality and efficiency of rail transport, with special focus on commercialization, distribution and the new initiatives that become popular in the market such as mobility as a service or the new ways of management decentralization.

Also addressed was the role of rail in the European Union mobility strategy, and its place in the commitment to environmental and social sustainability policies. Railways will play a key role in mobility not only due to environmental reasons and to reduce traffic and pollution, but also because of their capacity to free up public space in the cities.

On Thursday 3 October, the participants in the sessions travelled on the “Catalán Talgo” historic train from Barcelona’s França railway station to the Catalonia Railway Museum in Vilanova i la Geltrú, managed by the Spanish Railway Foundation, in order to attend the inaugural dinner.
