(15/11/2019)

This order in Taiwan is part of a TRA fleet renewal programme and follows the joint venture agreement signed by Stadler with PT Inka to set up a joint plant in Indonesia that will produce at least 500 suburban rail cars.

The locomotives, which will be designed and manufactured at the Albuixech plant in Valencia, are intended for passenger and freight traffic on the narrow gauge network – 1,067 millimetres – in Taiwan, in demanding mountainous topography and extreme tropical climatic conditions. The order is valued at approximately 165 million euros.

These six-axle units, which can run in multiple traction, will have a maximum speed of 120 km/h and will be able to withstand humidity levels of up to 100 percent as well as temperatures of up to 45 degrees Celsius.
