Limmat to collaborate with Norwegian infrastructure manager on implementing the ERTMS

The Norwegian infrastructure manager, Bane Nor, has awarded Limmat a technical support and consultancy contract for the implementation of the ERTMS in Norway.

Norway's National ERTMS Implementation Plan will allow the complete overhaul of the network's signalling system before 2030. The rollout is based on Level 2 of the latest 3.6.0 version of the ERTMS European standard and on interface standardisation.

Under this project, the signalling systems of over 4,000 km of track and the equipment of around 550 vehicles of 56 different series will be replaced. Furthermore, the operations of the management company will be fully digitalised.

Limmat is one of the companies promoted by Renfe and Telefónica in the Tren Lab innovation programme, under which it works on digitalisation projects through its IMAS+ smart maintenance platform.
