The project includes the collaboration of eight partners, the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne, Metro de Madrid, Vienna University of Technology, SITT Scapa, APF Soluciones de Gestión, Ilunion Accesibilidad, Estudios y Proyectos, and UITP.
The results are focused on an approach towards safety and accessibility in the design and development of railway stations, with the aim of obtaining the best balance between the needs of passengers and the infrastructural constraints. The key design factors include security and safety, baggage handling, ticketing, information and signage, design for accessibility and climatology.
The Fair Stations project has highlighted the fact that it is essential for cities to recognise and act on their responsibility to remove the barriers in public transport and ensure that everyone has equal access to mobility.
