The public rail operator has acquired an all-in railway-fleet operation, management and planning system to run Manila’s local commuter trains, taking in the whole metropolitan area and later to be extended to the Island of Luzon.
The project, to be set up by October 2020, will make it possible to know the position and state of the train fleet as well as any operation incidents that might crop up. It will also allow control of the whole railway operation in real time, including monitoring of train activity and driver behaviour, and all regulation activities to ensure on-time running.
Likewise, the system will supply passenger information on trains and at stations, managing communications between trains and the control centre, and it will include a traffic-light control and points system interface. In addition, this solution will make it possible to supervise the onboard systems such as radio equipment, ticketing, the train’s own equipment, etc.
Furthermore, an advanced tool will allow an after-the-event analysis of the rail system operation. GMV’s railway fleet-management system will initially be set up in 45 driver cabs with onboard computer, screen and microphone.
