The vehicles are manufactured by Polish rolling stock manufacturer Pesa and will provide suburban services in the area of Ústí nad Labem in the north of Bohemia (Czech Republic). The multi-voltage (3kV DC/25kV and 16.7Hz AC) units will operate at maximum speed of 160 km/h and are 53 metres-long, with a capacity for 110 passengers.
The supply includes 14 traction converters based on the medium power solution which will be located on the roof of the units, and other auxiliary equipment. The solution chosen is based on the 3-level technology on the line side of the converter and on the motor side, which offers the vehicle significant advantages in terms of space, weight and efficiency.
The units, which are in an advanced design phase, will be delivered during the first quarter of 2021. The manufacturing of the converters will take place at the company’s plant in Ortuella, Biscay, which was inaugurated at the end of 2019.
