The project, born of Siemens Mobility Spain's annual Intrapreneurship Competition, has been selected to be part of Next47, Siemens' global innovation initiative. This solution will contribute to maintain the safety distance between passengers without giving up a better travel experience.
IARO proposes an artificial intelligence engine designed to adapt train frequency to passenger demand with the objective of reducing waiting times in stations and avoiding service disruption. This improves the use of the infrastructure, which optimizes trips as well as the use of energy.
Based on cloud technologies and building blocks, this solution is able to adapt the operation to the flow of passengers in real time through different information inputs in the form of data from ticketing tools, Wifi networks (through a connection point to which the passengers' smartphones connected to the local network can automatically send information) or by counting passengers by low-resolution artificial vision cameras, which always preserve their privacy.
The solution proposes a business model based on three different types of subscriptions for metro and commuter train operators, gradually covering from the most essential services to a more advanced set of functionalities.
