The technologies to avoid the propagation of the virus focus on the cleaning and hygienic conditions of the surfaces and the air in the vehicles. Thus, the company is working on solutions for full vehicle disinfection through the use of biocidal products, ozone or ultraviolet light, as well as the use of antimicrobial surfaces that prevent the survival and the spread of the virus.

Another line of development is the installation of separating barriers that stop the spread of the virus among passengers, and the use of high-efficiency filters, plasma ionizers or UV-C biocidal lamps inside the air conditioning circuit to improve the quality of the air, increasing the volume of clean air and reducing the recirculation.

Space

Talgo trains have shorter and wider coaches and therefore offer greater distance between passengers. Each coach is equipped with its own air treatment system that allows renovation of the air from the exterior, thus reducing massive passenger exposure risk and guaranteeing the best hygienic conditions.

A Talgo train is capable of transporting 365 passengers distributed in a length of 200 metres, with an average of 33 passengers per coach, as compared with 150 passengers in a single shared space for a plane (about five times more).

Talgo’s new high-speed Avril train, currently being manufactured, is the widest of its category in the market and, in terms of air volume per passenger, can offer up to double the cubic meters per head than a plane.
