Alstom Spain delivers first two Citadis X05 trams to Athens




Alstom Spain has delivered to Attiko Metro, Athens’ urban transport authority, the first two Citadis X05 trams, which were entirely manufactured at Alstom’s plant located in Santa Perpetua de Mogoda, Barcelona.

These vehicles are part of the contract signed in July 2018 with Attiko Metro for the design, manufacturing and supply of 25 Citadis X05 units. The contract, worth more than 50 million Euros, also includes the on-site testing, training and warranty services, as well as spare parts for the vehicles. The delivery of the last unit is expected by the end of May 2021.

Following their arrival in Athens, the trams began dynamic tests at the end of September before being put into passenger service in February 2021. The 25 trams will run on the Greek capital city’s existing network, as well as on any planned extensions.
