Upgrades on Sandanhour, Toukh and Qaha stations on the Cairo-Benha line, Geziret and El Maragha on the Asyut-Nagahamadi line, and Kafr El Dawwar and Damanhour on the Cario-Alexandria line have all been completed.

As part of the Egyptian National Railways (ENR) signalling modernization project, the existing mechanical signalling systems are being replaced with Thales’ Electronic Interlocking System across three of the ENR’s most prominent lines: 159 km long Cairo-Alexandria, 48 km long Cairo-Benha, and 180 km long Asyut-Nagahamadi. The signalling modernization will increase train safety and speed by creating a more efficient railway system.
