The High-Speed Rail Atlas on the state of high-speed rail worldwide is already available on its 2024 edition, which has been coordinated and published by the International Union of Railways (UIC), and technically developed by the Geography and Railway Traffic Research Group of the Spanish Railways Foundation (Fundación de los Ferrocarriles Españoles), with the collaboration of the Passenger & High Speed Department of the UIC.

The document provides different detailed variables, such as length, line density, commercial speeds, traffic volume, worldwide evolution, line development situation, historical milestones, rolling stock fleets, travel times and speed records, which show the progress of high-speed rail. In its more than 200 pages, it features numerous maps, graphs and tables of over 65,500 kilometres of high-speed lines identified worldwide. Of these, 45,390 kilometres belong to the Chinese network, the world leader, followed by Spain, with 3,993 kilometres, Japan, France and Germany. It is worth mentioning that Indonesia joined the list of countries operating high-speed lines in 2024.
