Ineco supervises modernisation of Mediterranean-Black Sea connection in Turkey

(23/03/2021)

The consortium formed by Ineco with UBM and the consultancy firm Mott MacDonald is responsible for the monitoring and control of the modernisation of the line's infrastructure, superstructure and facilities. Works include the extension of the tracks, rehabilitation of tunnels, improvement of platforms and stations, and new signalling and train protection systems and telecommunications, including the ERTMS Level 1 system.

The works on the line, which has 378 kilometres of non-electrified track, will improve connections between the Mediterranean and the Black Sea, boost the development of regional transport and reduce road accidents. With its modernisation, the railway line will also reduce travel times and increase frequencies.
