The contract, worth more than 15 million Euros, includes works on 153 km of the high-speed line. As a result of the works, the Istanbul metropolitan area will be connected to the Bulgarian border, and the current single track will be replaced by double track.
The line will belong to the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T), which is part of the East/East-Mediterranean Corridor. This Corridor connects Central Europe with the ports of the North, Baltic, Black and Mediterranean Seas.
CAF Signalling will install its latest electronic interlocking technology, a new CTC and the latest ERTMS level 1 compatible signalling systems, on a line designed for maximum speeds of 200 km/h.
