Swedish rail transport operator, SJ, has awarded Euromaint Rail AB, a subsidiary of the CAF Group, two service contracts worth more than €100 million in total.

Two service contracts in Sweden for CAF

(29/07/2021)

The CAF Group subsidiary will provide maintenance services for 12 years for the fleet of trains that run on the Krösatågen and Kustpilen lines, which serve the area of south Sweden, specifically the Jönköping, Kalmar, Kronoberg, Blekinge, Halland and Skåne regions, and which from December 2021 will be operated by SJ.

The subsidiary will also be in charge of the maintenance of the new units that CAF will soon supply under the contract for the supply of 28 new trains, 20 electric units and 8 biodiesel-electric bimodal units, to the company AB Transitio, which will lease them to the regions that operate the service on the Krösatågen and Kustpilen lines. The maintenance activities are scheduled to begin this December and they will be carried out at the workshops located in Nässjö and Kalmar.

Remodelling

SJ has also selected Euromaint to remodel a total of 57 overnight passenger cars from the series BC4, WL1, WL4 and WL6 - with this work planned to be carried out at the workshop Euromaint owns in the Swedish town of Örebro. The upgrading work will begin on these vehicles in August 2021 and continue until February 2025.
