These four-car trains are equipped with components of the propulsion systems and the control and signalling systems manufactured at the company’s Spanish sites in Trápaga and San Sebastián de los Reyes.

Alstom Spain’s site in Trápaga (Vizcaya) leads the application design of the Mitrac propulsion system installed in the vehicles and participates in the supply of the equipment. The site at San Sebastián de los Reyes (Madrid) is in charge of the Communications-Based Train Control (CBTC) solution Cityflo 650.

Contract

In August 2019, an Alstom-led consortium composed of Orascom Construction and Arab Contractors signed a €2.7bn contract to design, implement, operate and maintain for 30 years the two monorail lines in the Egyptian capital. The first line, 54 km long, will connect the New Administrative City with East Cairo; and the second line, 42 km long, will connect 6th of October City with Giza. Both lines are expected to open in 2023 and each of them will be able to carry 45,000 passengers per hour in each direction.
