The twenty-five trams, built by Alstom in its factory in Santa Perpetua de Mogoda, Barcelona, completed more than 15,000 km of tests in Athens’ city network. These trams, commissioned in 2018 by Athens’ city transport authority, Attiko Metro, are the first Alstom ones to operate in Greece.

The Citadis X05 is this tram platform’s latest evolution and will travel at a maximum speed of 70 km/h in the city’s current network and in planned extensions. The new Citadis X05 trams will supplement the fleet of light vehicles that are currently being used in the networks of Athens and Piraeus.

The five-carriage trams are 33.42 metres long and 2.40 metres wide, with a maximum seating capacity of 294. They have double doors and 20 % more glazing, LED lighting, air conditioning and ventilation, and information screens. Their features guarantee 25% less energy consumption.
