CAF to supply diesel passenger trains in the United Arab Emirates



Etihad Rail, administrator and operator of the United Arab Emirates´s national railway network, has awarded CAF the supply and maintenance of diesel passenger trains for an amount in excess of €250 million.

Each CAF train will have a seating capacity of more than 400 and will reach speeds of up to 200 km/h, and it will offer first class, business class, and economy. The units will be adapted to the topography and climate of the United Arab Emirates, and will offer information and entertainment during the trip. The trains will be equipped with charging stations, food and beverages, ample legroom as well as an advanced air-conditioning system.

These units will connect 11 cities in the United Arab Emirates, from Al Sila to Fujairah, including Al Ruwais, Al Mirfa, Sharjah, Al Dhaid, and Abu Dhabi. They will reduce commute time by 30-40 per cent compared with other modes of transport.
