XPO acquires 100 semi-trailers to expand services from the Iberian Peninsula

The operator has acquired 100 P400 road-rail trailer units to add to its fleet in order to expand the capacity of the multimodal transport services it offers from the Iberian Peninsula to other European markets.

These new road-rail trailers will be used in the new rail corridors that cannot accommodate conventional trailers. The P400 is the most widely used semi-trailer for the combined distribution of goods by road, rail and sea, because it fits the four-metre maximum height at which a semi-trailer can be transported by rail.

The acquisition of these units is aimed at boosting cargo capacity for the various multimodal transport solutions that XPO has implemented in recent months. In the last few months, XPO has announced the launch of two multimodal services from the Iberian Peninsula. One service is to transport goods to the UK via France. Upon arrival in the UK, the operator manages the last-mile transport and distribution to the customer's premises.

XPO also manages daily freight flows outbound and inbound between the ports of Barcelona and Valencia in Spain and Savona in Italy, in this case with road and sea service.
