The leasing of 21 self-propelled trains will allow Leo Express, the company in which Renfe is the main shareholder in Central Europe, to provide service on the Bratislava-Komárno line during the next ten years. Operations are expected to start in December 2023.

The contract stipulates that these units must be fully delivered by August 2023, and the end date planned for this agreement is December 2032. The Coradia LINT 41 trains selected for this project, which belong to Alpha Trains Europe, are regional and intercity units manufactured by Alstom.

Internationalization

This first leasing contract abroad is part of Renfe’s Strategic Plan, which is looking to develop its activities outside Spain. In addition to high-speed rail, the operator is studying ‘Open Access’ and Public Service Obligation projects in the European market as well as in the rest of the world. All of them include the rolling stock leasing activity developed by Renfe Alquiler.
