Captrain España has ordered eight Euro 6000 multi-voltage electric locomotives from Stadler Valencia, which will be able to run on both standard gauge and Iberian gauge tracks.

Captrain España acquires eight Stadler Euro 6000 electric locomotives

(26/05/2023)

The eight locomotives will be added to the other twelve Euro 6000 (see product page) already operating, as the result of an agreement signed with Stadler Valencia and other suppliers in 2020, and another four that will enter into service in the coming months.

With these new units, together with the existing fleet that covers the current services, Captrain España will expand its traffic in the Mediterranean Corridor, crossing Spain and France and, in the near future, reaching Luxembourg. This combined fleet will also enhance connections between Spain and Portugal.

This contract to increase the number of locomotives will provide Captrain’s Iberian network with a fleet of at least 62 locomotives, following last year’s acquisition of the Portuguese railway company Takargo by the Captrain holding company.
