The National Accreditation Entity (ENAC) has granted the Metalworking and Transport Technology Centre, Cetemet, the accreditation to perform climatic tests on passenger trains at its climate testing station in Zaragoza. This makes Cetemet the first laboratory in Spain and third in Europe accredited to carry out this type of tests.

The accreditation recognizes the technical competence of Cetemet to carry out climate tests on passenger trains at a laboratory that is 28 meters in length and more than 5 meters in width and height. These facilities simulate extreme weather conditions ranging from -25°C to +50°C with generation of relative humidity up to 90%, ice and snow.
The tests will also focus on the operation of mechanical elements such as windshield, opening and closing of doors, pantograph or braking systems, among others. Additionally, these tests will ensure that railway HVAC systems perform optimally in any of the scenarios defined by the reference standards, such as very extreme temperatures and humidity in tropical climates or very cold in Nordic climates. On the other hand, an environmental protection component stands out since, through these climatic tests, it has been possible to measure and control the energy consumption of HVAC systems, achieving optimal performance without using excess energy.
