The Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County (METRO) has signed a contract with GMV valued at $26 million to implement a cloud-hosted content management system and provide installation, maintenance, and support for up to 3,000 digital signs at transit centres, rail platforms, and bus stops over a seven-year period.

Since 2019 METRO has deployed more than 200 real-time digital signs on the ‘METRORapid Silver Line’ network. The system ensures that passengers can easily find live bus departure times, transit service alerts, and public service announcements. GMV’s software manages the real-time flow of data to the signs.

The project expansion will include signage at transit centres, current and planned light rail platforms, park & ride facilities, and forthcoming high frequency BOOST bus lines.
